Bringing home a new puppy is always an exciting time for the entire family. Getting that new puppy off the right start with proper training is very important to making that puppy a valued member of his human family. There are a number of talents that every new puppy must master, including going up and down the stairs, and how to accept a new collar as if she’s worn it her entire life.

It is best to introduce a new puppy to the household when everyone in the family is present, and when the household is as calm as possible. That is why animal care experts discourage parents from giving puppies and kittens as holiday presents.

The holiday season is typically much too busy, with far too many distractions, for a young puppy or kitten to get the attention it needs. It is best to wait until the holidays have passed before introducing the new family member.

Once the puppy is part of the household, there are some things he or she will need to learn. One of the first challenges of a multi-story home will be learning to climb up and down the stair. Many puppies are afraid of stairs, and that usually means that they do not know how to climb them properly.

It is important for the puppy’s owner to slowly build the confidence of the dog, starting off at the bottom of the stairs. In general, a wide stairway will probably be less frightening to the puppy.

To build confidence, the owner should go up the first step, then encourage the puppy to join them, using their voice, treats or a toy. After the puppy has joined you on the first stair, go back down and repeat the process until the puppy will go up that step on his own. It is important to build confidence slowly and not rush the process. Taking a one step at a time approach is the best way to teach the puppy to not be afraid of stairs.

Another thing every new puppy must learn is how to accept the collar. Learning to wear a collar is important to every dog, but many puppies are baffled, frightened and bewildered by this new piece of equipment. Many puppies constantly try to remove their new collar by pawing and pulling at it.

Fit is important when choosing a collar for your new puppy. A properly fitted collar, chosen for your puppy’s size, is more likely to be comfortable and accepted. While choke collars, slip collars and training collars can be good training aids, they should never be used as a substitute for a sturdy buckle type collar. And of course that collar should have an identification tag and license attached. This identification will be vital in having your puppy returned if she becomes separated from you.

The best way to introduce the puppy to the collar is to simply put the collar on and allow her to squirm, jump, roll and paw at the color to her heart’s content. It is important to not encourage this behavior by trying to soothe the puppy, but it is just as important not to punish or reprimand the puppy.

The best strategy is to simply ignore the puppy and them her work through her issues with the collar on her own. Introducing distractions, such as food, toys or playing, is a good way to get the puppy used to the color. Getting the puppy to play, eat and drink while wearing the collar is a great way to get her used to it. After a few days, most puppies will not even know they are wearing a collar.

Every family needs a dog, you are the best way to complete the life at home. Kids love dogs and adults love dogs and let the face of the company are the exception. These animals are still able to get off your butt and exercise. After the dog every day is a good way to get back to good health and fitness. But what is most appropriate dog for your family? Good question, especially if you have other pets and children. Some animals are not only able to children or other animals. Pitbulls for example, should immediately be taken if you have kids. No matter how sweet and nice to the dog seems to be an unpredictable race can not depend, remain friendly and sweet. It can be activated at any time and if they do, there is little they can do. Every week there is another article in the journal of a deadly attack pitbull does not want that chance to avoid your family or neighbors pit bulls. Labradors are wonderful animals and family. They are a little large and tender and sweet and always. These dogs are always lots of fun and energy and are honest and faithful companion. If this type of dog you always feel safe, but also the assurance that their children are not affected by this animal at any time under any circumstances. The dog really is man’s best friend, and if you even once, you know why this word has survived for many generations. Get the whole family, a dog for the whole family will get the ball in and enjoy.

The mission of the Rochester Animal Services (RAS) is dedicated to improving the quality of life and safety for city residents and their animals, the promotion of responsible pet ownership and the reduction of animal overpopulation to reduce animal suffering and euthanasia.

RAS has been enforces in every state and city of Rochester pertaining to animal control. Numbers of online sites have shown their interest in operating animal shelter for stray, injured, and disowned animals and also the adoption center as a site for lost pets. This strives to provide you best animal care and protection.

Before you make a decision for adopting a animal into your house. Make sure that you are comfortable with that pet and if you have made a decision then simply complete all the legal formalities like filling out their form and answer to their questions. This is for the well being of the animal you wish to adopt and help to make a proper decision to you as well as the person from whom you are adopting a pet.

After completing all the formalities, you can counsel with them to get all the detail information of your selected pet like the history, special needs, and food and exercise requirements. Feel free to ask questions about spaying or neutering, house training, obedience training, controlling fleas and ticks, and anything else you are concerned about. You will be asked to sign an adoption contract and to pay the appropriate fees. After all the formalities you can take your pet home.

Cats, like any other animal out there, can become sick. There are several health problems that can affect your cat. If you have never owned one though you may not realize just what those can be. Knowing what to look for can protect your pet’s health.

The hairball is probably the most common of them. Cats will groom themselves and this allows loose hair to come off the pet and end up in the stomachs. Instead of passing easily, the hair can form a ball within the stomach. If your cat starts coughing and hacking he may have a hairball that he’s trying to expel. You can help prevent hairballs by grooming your cat frequently to remove the excess hair that will cause them. You can feed your cat food that will help to control it too. Even some cat treats are available to help you to keep your cat’s healthy.

Urinary tract infections are another common problem for many cats. These are particularly common in cats that are not neutered, especially males. If the cat stopped using his litter box, an infection can be the cause. If the cat’s urine smells strong, this can be a sign as well. In order to treat this condition, you will need to visit the vet. But, there are some cat foods out there that can help to limit the episodes of infection your cat will have.

Viruses

Cats can get viruses too. Some of these include the following: Feline Leukemia Virus, Feline Infectious Peritonitis, and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus.

FIP is a disease that is related to the Corona virus. This is a serious problem because there is no known treatment for the disease. Cats that test positive for it may not actually have it as Corona has the same results. There is a vaccine for FIP but many vets feel it is not very effective. The good news is that it is not easy for the cat to catch it.

FIV or cat AIC is not always something that will kill the animal. It is important to note that you can not catch HIV from a cat though.

FLV is a preventable condition if the cat has not been exposed to the virus before being immunized. Cats that have the disease will not die right away, most of the time, but it can shorten the life expectancy of the pet. It is important to keep other cats away from a pet that has this condition.

Worms are another problem that can affect your pet. These can be roundworms, tapeworms or hookworms. They can occasionally develop heart worms as well. Those cats that can not gain weight are infested with fleas and those who have white specks in their stool should be taken to the vet for testing for worms. If your pet does have worms, it can be fatal if it is untreated but most pets can be cured from it with a few doses of medication.

Another condition in which many cats that go outdoors will have is ticks. Symptoms include the pet being lethargic and acting like they are in pain. If you suspect that your pet may have this condition, make sure to take him to the vet to have them removed. Also, the vet will likely treat him for Lyme Disease which can be transmitted to you and your family as well as to pets by the ticks.

There are a number of useful websites that can give you information about diseases that affect your cat. However, it is essential that if you suspect your pet of having any of these conditions that you seek out the help of a vet right away.

People Think i am loopy, and i am, But not about this.I love animals. I love big animals, little animals and all those in between.I’ve always had a pet or a stray somewhere around me. Even when i didn’t have a “official pet, I had a stray stashed in the neighborhood, and after school or taking out the trashed, id call to it.Now that i am, “all growed up” I can have as many as i want. At the moment I have 3 cats and two dogs. And if you think your dog doesn’t understand you or cant communicate, well then I think you’re loopy.

Dogs and cats communicate basically the same as we do, they just never evolved past the basics, Their communications are straight out of the box, the same as when they got em. While we on the other hand have evolved. Dogs and pet communicate in the most basic form, through feelings and visuals. This can also be trained or learned into the pet by time and familiarity and keywords.I guess i should explain that a little further. We as humans use words as our primary form of communication. Whether written or spoken or seen we use words. But if you think about what words actually are, you will understand what i am saying a whole lot better. Words were created to easily explain feelings. If you feel hungry or hurt, you communicate the words to say hungry and hurt. But even though used far less now then in our human infancy, we still communicate hurt and hungry the primal way, through feelings.Dogs on the other hand never evolved past the feelings stage of their existence.

Animals communicate vocally but only the most basic feelings, hunger, hurt, lonely, afraid etc. So if you want to understand your animal, you have to know your animal. This is true for unknown animals also. The same as we can talk better to friends than strangers. After time spent together you will learn each other, just like with a friend. You will be able to communicate with each other on level most have never known. Watch your animal and bond with your animal, and most importantly understand that your animal isn’t classist or racist or any of the other ists they just see you as a bigger uglier form of themselves. Animals either like you or don’t like you, and they really do have opinions. So take care and notice what your dog or cat does before events. What does my dog do when he has to go out? What does my dog do when he is hungry, or lonely? If you pay attention and treat them with favorite snacks when attempting to train them to keywords, like down or stay, you will have a friend for life and you and your friend can communicate as good or better than if he/she were human. This article can be found at www.ghettobillgates.com ;the author is shadow eternal. admin at www.racialdebate.com

I have been a pet owner nearly all of my life and a veterinarian for almost half of my life, so I have seen my fair share of animals and animal owners. One of the biggest things I hate is to see people jump into the decision of buying a dog without taking time to think through the decision. When the decision to get a dog as a pet is made without care, the owners and the dog suffer equally from it.

Before you run out and purchase a dog, take time to carefully consider your decision. Think about your current lifestyle. How would bringing a new dog into the picture affect things? Do you have enough time, energy and money to adequately support bringing a dog into your family? Sure, the idea sounds great now, but is it a wise choice?

If you are sure that you can handle bringing a dog into your home and you are sure that you have what it takes to really care for your dog, then move ahead with caution and begin to research what kind of dog might be best for you. A dog is not a dog is not a dog. I hate hearing people talk about not really caring about what kind of dog they get. Each variety of dog is different and requires vastly different care. Learn what you can about the dogs you are interested in before making a purchase.

It is great to visit people who own the kinds of dogs you are interested in. See what their lives are really like with a dog in the picture. The more research you do, the better off you will be when you finally bring a dog into your home. Learn all you can from other dog owners and get their wisdom for you. I guarentee you that having a dog as a pet is a wonderful but hard thing.

Prepare your family before bringing a dog into your home. Talk honestly about the responsibilities that bringing a dog into your home will mean. Divide up those responsibilities so that everyone feels like they have an important part to play. A family will always do better with a dog when they have a right understanding of the work and commitment it will take to keep the dog alive and well.

I love seeing families bring a dog into their homes. I am insistent, however, on seeing the process done well. Please use caution and wisdom as you seek to make a dog part of your family.
